March Update

Update:

First of all, my apologies for not posting until now. Between work, family, and all the other things going on, I just did not make time to do it. Many things have happened since the last post.

The Intern Social held on March 26 was very informative (and the food wasn’t bad either). Some of the things I learned is that the ARE will be changing at the end of this year. On January 1, 2008, ARE4.0 will be initiated. This change will affect any person that has not started taking the ARE prior to this date. If you have started, you will only have 2008 to finish taking the previous form of the exam. After January 1, 2009, you may have to retake portions of the ARE that have been consolidated.

After the consolidation of the test, instead of nine sections, there will be six. The consolidation brings together previous portions of the exam that are closely associated into a single exam. This will not decrease the amount of information covered, just decreases the number of sections. For more information, visit the NCARB website by clicking the link listed in the right hand column.

If you attended the crawfish boil hosted by the AIAS, you enjoyed some very good food. If you missed it, well you really missed it. It was a great turnout and just a good time had by all.

Also, the Boy’s and Girl’s Club Charettes and designs are going along well. We have faced some setbacks and delays, however with diligence and hard work, we will complete our commitment to the staff members, parents, and children. Everyone has given of time and effort to get us this far. It will take a little more effort to finish, but I think we can pull together and do it.

Our next EPSOLA meeting will be on April 10, 2007. If everything goes according to plans, we will be meeting at the jobsite in Crowley. Directions will be forthcoming in the next edition of the newsletter.

Thank you for your patience and persistence in making the efforts of Intern Architects successful.

Sincerely,

Brent Frick, Assoc. AIA
EPSOLA President
