April Newsletter

AIA SKEET SHOOTING FUNDRAISER
If anyone is interested in forming a team to shoot skeet in Jennings, please let us know. A four or five man team would be a great addition to this fundraiser. The entry fee will be offset by $100 for the intern team. Please let me know ASAP so we can register the intern team quickly.

ULL

ULL is on Easter Break. Have fun guys. Be careful.

IDP - INTERN SOCIAL

For those who attended, thank you for coming. Many questions were answered and much more was discussed. Marsha, Allen, thank you for taking time out of your day to be a part of our social. I hope that the information you received will be put to good use. If you did not come to the social, sorry you missed it.

HARD HAT SERIES

I have gotten in touch with Mark Lalonde about a building in Crowley. It has been difficult, to say the least, for me to find a building for us to tour. It is my pleasure to let you know that we will have our first building/construction tour of this new initiative this next meeting, Tuesday, April 10, starting at 5pm.
As I have explained before, this is the opportunity for interns who do not have the exposure they wish they would have to the construction aspect of our profession. While we did do some building tours while in school, and some of us have had some oversight on the construction sight on at our job, this will give us an opportunity to ask questions and gather information on what happens during the construction of what we have drawn on paper.
The “Hard-Hat Series” is a first for Louisiana and the interns in our area. I hope that you will be there on Tuesday.

DIRECTIONS:

I-10 to Crowley exit Hwy. 13. Turn left (South) and drive to the Courthouse. Turn Right on first road (I believe it is Northern - 1/4 of the way around the square). Drive approximately 2 miles. Turn right on Capitol Avenue. The building is on the left. It is a jail.

ARE STUDY SESSIONS

Is anyone interested in attending an MEP Seminar in June? If so, please contact me via email or call. I will need to get an approximate head count so I will know the cost for each person.

LSUCCC

The Town Hall Meeting will begin at 10am. There has been a lack of representation by the architecture profession as of late at these meetings and a strong showing this day would be great. Not only would it show interest from the architects in this area, but the explaination of certain aspects of the Code could help you at your jobs. If there is a way you can make it there, please go.

If you have any questions about these or any other topic, please email me with them.

Sincerely,

Brent Frick
EPSOLA President
